The Inspiration Diaries: Light and Shadow

I love watching light misbehave. When sunlight hits water, or filters through tree branches, or sneaks through a blind and paints stripes on the floor. Those moments feel tiny yet special. You stop for half a second and think, alright, that looks beautiful.

On the beach near home, the tide draws different patterns every day.  Some mornings you see perfect ridges, neat and even. Other days everything looks wild and jumbled. I walk along and take too many photos, then go home and document the shapes I remember.`

`

Nature never feels random to me. There is always some rhythm running through things. A curve in a stone that matches a fold in a shell. Lines in dried mud that echo ripples in shallow water. All those details began to feed into this collection.

I am always dazzled by how it creeps around corners and meets you in another room.  It is like a game of hide and seek.

Sally, our head designer, and I started playing with the patterns and trying out different shapes that could hold enough texture to amplify the impact. Then worked out how we could soften the edges.

We held prototypes under different light and watched how shadows moved across the surface. I wanted jewellery that feels alive, that might change a little throughout the day.

Golden Patches of Light and Shadow is for those of you who say 'I love this time of day' on holiday when the sun kisses the horizon and you want the moment to last for ever. This collection is a tribute to that moment.
